Give Me Ten is MOAA's program to encourage chapters to recruit national MOAA members. MOAA offers incentives for chapters to recruit at least ten new MOAA members. Give Me Ten is for new MOAA recruits, not renewals - except that existing members may become life members via Give Me Ten. (MOAA & VCOC suggest chapters also offer a free year of chapter membership along with Give Me Ten). Active duty, guard and reservists join for free with Give Me Ten. Others join two years for $28 (the usual cost of a one-year membership is $31). Virginia is the only state council of MOAA to earn Dinner-On-MOAA each year, beginning 2006. Starting in 2010, that dinner must be earned via paid memberships (though there is still a monitary stipend for free GMTs).

TIPS FOR RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL GIVE ME TEN PROGRAM:
Obtain application information for all “Gold Bar” and Warrant Officer accessions prior to commissioning ceremonies or receptions. Don’t simply hand out blank applications to commissionees and expect the forms to be returned to MOAA.
Make sure “chapter code” and name of “recruiting member” are shown on each application submitted.
Make sure to obtain a check for $28.00 payable to MOAA for all “paid” applications. It is difficult to obtain the check “after-the-fact.”
If consistent with your chapter’s procedures, have all completed GMT forms returned to the chapter vice MOAA Headquarters for review and editing. Applicants don’t always write well or include all required info.
Keep a copy of the completed application forms, or create a spreadsheet or list of all application forms submitted to MOAA for periodic reconciliation. You don’t always get credit for all the forms you submit - you might need the documentation to follow-up.
