WHAT TO SEND? Content of website is aimed primarly at Virginia chapters of MOAA, but keep in mind the website is accessible to the public. Explain the Virginia-unique aspects, or how Virginia chapters fit into the subject. Do not repeat items on the Council website that are on MOAA’s national website or local chapter sites, but include links instead.
HOW TO SEND? If you have something to post on the VCOC website, please email it to web manager at : melvamaj@cox.net
Subject line of your email should include the words "post VCOC web" so your message will not be mistaken for SPAM or info copies.
Please email input to the web manager through or "copy to" the VCOC board member who is involved with the particular subject (examples: copy to legislative chair on legislative items; copy to membership chair on Give Me Ten ).
Web Manager prefers Word Document, sent as email attachment, with photos in JPEG format separate from document). If you do not have Word, you may send text in body of an email. Or if you want a document posted, that people cannot alter, you may send the document as a PDF file. Please save Word Document as a doc file (not docx which is available with more recent versions of Word, but cannot be read by older versions).
When sending digital photos, please include photographer’s name and a caption (including name/rank/title of people pictured, the location and/or description of the event pictured and date). JPEG format is preferred. Photos cannot be lifted out of documents into the website, so please send photos separately than document or text.
The official VCOC website is www.VirginiaMOAA.com
The VCOC official website was developed and is maintained using Network Solutions hosting package. The cost of the Network Solutions hosting package is aproximately $130 a year, when paid annually. VCOC pays for the hosting package.
The web manager is an appointed VCOC position. The web manager is not paid. She wants everybody to know she is not a web master - she does not write code or have much technical background in website mechanics.
